Who is McCain up against?

I was reading the paper this morning and saw a quote by Barack schmObama saying, "I do not intend to lose this election. John McCain better know what he's up against." Well schmObama, aside from the fact that I know of no politician who's ever intended to lose an election, let me tell you exactly what McCain's up against.

He's up against a loser.

He's up against a junior senator, a product of notoriously corrupt Chicago politics, who hasn't been in the Senate long enough to find the men's room.

He's up against a guy who's accomplished nothing of substance in his professional life except for getting elected to office and being a community agitator/activist. No significant pieces of legislation with his name on it, no executive experience, no military experience, no foreign policy experience, no experience running a business of any kind or anything else for that matter.

He's up against a guy who continues to bring race into the mix, then falsely accuses him (McCain) of doing so.

He's up against a guy with the thinnest skin of any politician I've ever seen on the national stage. If a few negative (and I might add humorous) ads from John McCain are already making schmObama start to lose it and go completely defensive, how will he be able to handle an office with so many pressure-filled decisions that the men who preside over it often look quite different when they move out than they did moving in?

He's up against a guy who bought his house and land as part of a kickback sweetheart deal involving a now-convicted felon.

He's up against a guy who instead of exploring for more domestic energy, says that if we just inflate our tires properly (for all of you driving around without air in your tires) and get tune-ups (even though modern cars don't require them), we would save just as much oil as we could produce by exploring the OCS, designated areas of ANWR, and oil shale.

He's up against a guy who claims to have visited 57 states. **see bottom

He's up against a guy who has compared the U.S. led liberation of Iraq with the invasion of Russia into Georgia. For anyone reading this, regardless of your position on the Iraq War, I truly hope you can see the difference between the two.

He's up against a guy that is a strong believer in taking money from those who have managed to succeed financially and rerouting it to those that have not, i.e. class warfare. Unfortunately, the evil rich are generally the same people who require the services of the middle class and therefore keep them employed. When the economy is in its current state, less money in the hands of the wealthy tends to trickle down to the rest of us.

Finally, he's up against a guy that doesn't have the coconuts to directly answer the question: "At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?" SchmObama instead copped out saying the question was above his pay grade. Two things on that.
  1. We've since come to learn that schmObama, while in the Illinois State Senate, voted against a bill protecting babies born from botched abortions. Yes, this links to a column by a conservative commentator, however he has listed extensive quotes from the debate floor where this took place, as well as a link to the official State Senate Record.
  2. If a simple question about schmObama's personal feelings and convictions concerning when human life, and thus rights, begins is truly above his pay grade, what else falls into that category?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm no blind McCain supporter. In fact, I disagree with many of his stances on major issues. However, at least he gives a direct answer when asked a direct question.

That being said, if anyone from the McCain campaign somehow stumbles across Nuggets of Logic, stop sending requests for donations to my house. I won't send you a cent until I see who your candidate taps for VP. Although I despise schmObama's policies and fear his candidacy, I will not show up to vote against anyone. If McCain chooses a true conservative who believes in individual liberty and has a coherent understanding of the economy and how it works, I will show up to vote for your candidate as well as promote your ticket however I can. I'll also be happy to entertain donation requests at that time.

**Update: schmObama came back from his Hawaii vacation, so he has now visited 58 states

On a Lighter Note...

I've been pretty busy lately and unable to take the time to research and post about serious matters, but here are a few videos to brighten your day. (Sorry, no Obama gaffes today. He's vacationing in Hawaii to take a break from saying stupid things.)

Why Government-Run Health Care Would be a Disaster

It seems from an article in the Dallas Morning News that Medicare fell for a fake billing test set up by the General Accounting Office, or GAO. The GAO basically setup sham companies and applied for billing priviledges. The following is the second paragraph from the story and basically says it all.
"These fictitious suppliers, based in Maryland and Virginia, won the
privileges even though GAO investigators deliberately provided them with
sketchy information and false documents that offered little assurance that
the companies were legitimate."

How's that for warm and fuzzies about the ability of the federal government to run something? The GAO not only was able to slip this past Medicare, but they did so with sham companies designed to tip Medicare off! It also says in the story that around 10% of the billing payments Medicare makes for medical equipment are deemed improper. Not exactly a stellar review.

What's really rich is that we have an entire political class that in one way or another thinks or thought the federal government just doesn't do enough with Medicare. The Bush administration thought it necessary to provide prescription drug benefits as part of Medicare, which this 2005 Washington Post article estimates will cost more $1.2 trillion. That's trillion with a "t"!

And then there's schmObama. By the way, I've started calling him schmObama after his "Jimmy Carter in a sweater"-like solution to making us energy independent by checking the air pressure in your tires, not in addition to, but instead of drilling. It just fits. But back to Medicare.

schmObama is running on a platform that says Medicare just isn't enough. The hell with just covering seniors. That's right! The federal government should provide healthcare for everyone, not just seniors! They're obviously doing such a knock-down, bang-up job, let's just turn over the entire healthcare industry to them!

Forget that they're already giving away 10% of medical equipment payments to scam artists. Forget that people from other countries with socialized health care come here when they need an urgent procedure as the line to be treated in their native country may take months. Forget that this is the same government which is currently bankrupting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Forget that is the same government who is saddling us, our children, and grandchildren with over $50 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Forget that this is the same government that sets up and/or runs the TSA, the post office, Fannie Maye, Freddie Mac, and AmTrak. Let's just turn the whole thing over to them. I'm sure they'll get this one right!

Just remember, if schmObama gets elected and we go down this road, at least you can take solice in the fact that all of us, no matter left/right, male/female, black/white, rich/poor, will all be equally miserable. After all, equality is what America's all about, right?

Lights Out on the House

Okay, this is hilarious and pathetic at the same time. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has adjourned the House after refusing to have an up or down vote on drilling offshore. Many Republicans decided not to leave, but to continue a one-sided debate even after Democrats had the lights, microphones, and C-SPAN cameras turned off. What gives, Pelosi? How dare you adjourn when millions of Americans want this debate to take place. This is the same Pelosi who on election night in 2006 promised to "work together in a bipartisan way for all Americans". Today, she basically said "Screw you" to all of us and will henceforth be know on Nuggets of Logic as No-Vote Nancy.

Republicans deserve credit for finally growing a pair, standing up, and demanding that action be taken on behalf of the American people which they were sent to Washington to represent. They've been sitting idly by for way to long, gladly accepting any crumbs the Democrats happen to drop. Just who does No-Vote Nancy think she is to forbid an up/down vote on this issue, which is on the top of voters' minds, while walking out the door for a 5-week vacation?!

I can only think of one reason not to allow a vote to take place. She knows it will pass the House and go to the Senate, where Barack Obama will be forced to go on record with a vote on the issue. Of course, I'm not sure why we idiot Americans are wanting to drill for more oil so bad anyway. After all, Obama the Wise has given us a great alternative. What a bunch of clowns.

New McCain Ad

This should get the dander up on a few folks. I'm not even going to comment, just post it and duck! :-)
