Kudos to Mark Levin who publicized this story yesterday on his radio show. It seems that Max Baucus (D-Mont), the Senate Finance Chairman, is resorting to strong-arm tactics and threats to prevent some K-Street Democrat health care lobbyists from even speaking to Republicans at a meeting concerning Obama's plan for the government takeover of health care. According to the story, Baucus' staff is "...warning dissenters that anyone who makes their opposition public could be permanently excluded from future negotiations."
I'm so sick and tired of this crap. Aside from the fact that this whole idea will lead us toward a UK-style healthcare filled with long lines, poor treatment, and a panel of bureaucrats deciding whether we live or die, why are Democrats pushing to get this done so quickly? This will be by far the largest and most expensive government program in the history of the world, and they are trying to ram it through as quickly as possible with no public debate. "Why?" you ask.
Well, I think that they know that when the public, even the dim bulbs that voted for Obama, begin to learn that their health care will begin to resemble this, government health care will be shot down mighty quick. That will sink the goal that the left has been working towards since FDR.
Back to my original point. A member of Congress warning those directly affected by a political battle to keep silent or face the consequences is disgraceful. I'm getting so angry with these wannabe mobsters that I can hardly speak.
Just yesterday I was at a luncheon of the local chapter of the Association of Healthcare Underwriters and was listening to a lady who has been in the business a long time. She was telling us that she had been speaking with some friends of hers from England and Canada. Concerning what the U.S. will do about health care, they told her, "Whatever you do, don't let the government do this with health care. If your government takes over health care, we won't have anywhere to go when we really need a procedure done."
I've got a lot more to say, but I'm tired of typing. What say you?

By the tone of this post you would think that this is all happening tomorrow.
I understand you frustration with the politicians in Washington. I had a bad Vet experience today with the new puppy and I cant imagine if I was forced to go to a doctor like that (and this was just the vet!). He was a snob and listened very little...
oh, and the source listed about what our helth care is going to look like is a little slanted. I could easily find the opposite over at the Nation or The Atlantic..
You think the tone is too urgent? Come on Cody, I know you've been paying attention to this guy. Even if you like him, the following are facts.
He's been in office less than 5 months and has passed a massive stimulus we can't pay for, a budget with a nearly $2 trillion deficit, taken over Chrysler and GM (and passed huge stakes to the UAW), bought controlling interests in many large banks, and is currently trying to cap executive pay in the private sector.
He's always in a hurry. As stated in the article below, Obama has set an August deadline for the health care.

As for the source website, I haven't read a lot of the stuff on the margins. I'm talking about the stories listed 1 by 1, pulled right out of the headlines. I'm willing to bet that if you look at The Nation or The Atlantic, you won't find a headline about the U.S. health care system such as "Kidney Cancer Patients Denied Life-Saving Drugs by Rationing Body". Not yet anyway, and that's my point.
For all it's problems, our system is still the best there is which is why people come here from all over the world when they really need something done. You ever hear of an American citizen flying to the UK because they needed an emergency surgery and just couldn't get one here?
I agree that the policies have been massive and expensive. I'm just not 'indignant' and not matter what Obama does my future does not lie in the hands of the U.S. government.
I actually have a story of 'medical' tourism. U.S. citizens going to remote places to have major surgeries. I will find it and send the link this way.
