Tough Week for New York

First, the White House decides to do a photo-op with Air Force One over lower Manhattan without informing the public, thereby causing a mass panic. Honestly, what were they thinking? Imagine you're a New Yorker that lived through 9/11, then take a look at the video below and tell me what would be going through your head. To add insult to injury, Obama claims he never knew about the photo-op. Does anyone out there believe that for one second? I contend that he's either a total dunce or a liar.






Second, this morning Joe Biden, Mr. Amtrak himself, comes out and says that he would not allow his family members to use subways and implied that all schools should be shuttered. Someone out there take a guess at how a HUGE percentage of New Yorkers travel. How did this idiot get elected time after time to Congress and do you think Obama is having some serious regrets about choosing him as a running mate?

Earth Day

I don't have a problem with Air Force One, nor do I have a problem with the decoy 747 that flies along with it. Our presidents need to be kept safe, simple as that. I still find this story hilarious for the president that's going to create millions of "green jobs", whatever those are. I guess the real question we should be asking is if Air Force One's tires were at least properly inflated.

Obama's new BFFL?

This is just so sweet. I just love it when a sitting (or former, Jimmy Carter) US President goes overseas , makes nice with a socialist dictator, and apologizes to anyone who will listen for the evils of our country. Especially when that dictator was on our shores not 3 years ago calling Obama's predecessor "devil".

It looks like Obama also happily accepted a gift from the little puke. "What gift?" you may ask. Well, it's a book entitled Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent. It's about US and European economic and political interference in Latin America. Hopefully it will give Obama some new talking points about how America sucks for his next trip abroad.

My personal opinion is that Obama should rip out the pages of this book and take pictures of the First Family using them to potty train their new dog.

But no, it's time for hope and change which means kissing the very large ass of a dictator.

Screw this guy.

How About a Little Quid pro quo Muchachos?

It seems that Mexico is demanding that the US crack down on illegal weapons making their way into the country from the United States. Here's a little thought I guess Obama didn't think to bring up, which suprises me because he's just so damn smart.

How about in return for us helping stop illegal weapons from making their way south of the border, Mexico helps stop illegal immigrants from making their way north of the border?

It's called common sense people. It's a good train, you should hop on board...

Texas Governor Race

Although I disagree with some of what Gov. Perry has done or tried to do, a couple of examples being forced HPV shots for young girls and the the Trans Texas Corridor, he just won my vote for the upcoming Texas Governor's race in 2010 with his support for bill HCR 50, which affirms Texas State Soveriegnty under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution. The text of the bill is only one page and can be read here.

Below is a speech Perry gave a few days ago in support of this bill. The relevant part is up until about 6:30.



It's about time that a state stands up and reminds the politicians of both parties in Washington that the states came together over 200 years ago and created the federal government, not the other way around. It might as well be Texas.

Great Book!!!

I just finished reading Mark Levin's new best-selling book which has been taking the country by storm: Liberty and Tyranny, a Conservative Manifesto. This is a book I would encourage any conservative and beg any liberal to read. It's not page after page of surface level catchphrases or talking points, as some other authors put out there. It's an in-depth and thoughtfully laid-out look into conservative philosophy covering a broad range of issues from immigration to faith to self-preservation to free markets, etc. Showing his history as a constitutional lawyer, Mark devotes an entire chapter to the Constitution and the concept of originalism, both what it is and why it's necessary.

The book pulls on writings from conservative thinkers such as Adam Smith and John Locke and shows how these men influenced the founders of this country as they were deciding what the new nation should look like. Coming in at only around 200 pages, Liberty and Tyranny has 40 pages of footnotes and sources for much more reading and research if one is so inclined.

Although this book is relatively short, it's not a quick read. If one is so inclined, they can skim it in a couple hours, but they will be greatly missing out. It needs to be carefully read and digested, as there is something to learn and take away in virtually every sentence. The book is wrapped up with a great quote from President Reagan, and I will end this post with the same quote:

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

GM: Government Motors

Well, Obama decided to take over GM. He decided to axe the CEO and install one of his own choosing. While I was still reeling from this blatant disregard for the limits of government, Obama comes out and says "the United States government has no interest in running GM", then proceeds to begin plans to take over the board of directors. Now the new CEO and Obama are talking about bankruptcy. Conservatives have been demanding for months to both President Bush and President Obama that GM should be allowed to go into bankruptcy. If that was the president's end game, why wait? Why wait until you've kicked out the CEO? Why wait until you announce that you are going to be reshaping the board?

Could it be that you are wanting to stack the board with members that are sympathetic to the UAW? Could it be that this is one big payback to the unions who helped push your sorry know-nothing ass into the White House? Could it be that you want to make sure that when GM enters bankruptcy, which it surely will, the board somehow decides that we can't cut the contracts of the UAW which are literally sucking the life out of this once-great company? Just a thought.

I've tried to show respect for Obama's position and office even though I vehemently disagree with his policies. That's about to come to an end. When you as president decide to spit in the face of private business, dangle a life preserver in front of a drowning company heading for bankruptcy, make as a condition for the preserver that the CEO step down, muscle your way in to take it over, then allow it to fall into bankruptcy anyway as you seize further control by planning a board of directors takeover, you don't deserve respect, regardless of your position. You deserve contempt. I'm so mad about this I could spit nails.

TurboTax Tim has already said that more CEOs may be fired and wants the government to have expanded authority to seize companies. You on the left laughed when we said stuff like this was going to be headed down the pike with Obama in the White House. Remember, we're barely 2 months in. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Hope and change. Gotta' love it.

Quick Thought

After presenting the PM of Great Britain with DVDs as a gift, and now presenting the Queen of England with an iPod, President Obama may want to consider firing whoever is in charge of picking out gifts. I have a feeling the next gift to a dignitary may well be a Best Buy Gift Card.
